If you’ve come to Crete seeking for an adventure, then this tour is perfect for you! Tap into your inner Indiana Jones as you explore a Cretan village, hike a gorge, discover an ancient city, drink ‘healing water,’ swim in the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and try your hand at preparing local dishes!

Our tour will begin with a two-hour, bus ride that will cross the island from north to south. You will get to see the beautiful and diverse landscape of Crete.

Upon arrival to the small, sleepy village by the sea, we will make a fuel stop. We will have a light, organic breakfast made with local products.

Our next quest is to reach the the ancient city of Lissos. We’ll walk in the shade of old pine trees on an easy trail before slowly trekking up a hill that will offer breathtaking views of the gorge beneath us, and the the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea in the distance.

Lissos was the port of ancient Elyros. Its pre-Hellenic name suggests that it was inhabited well before the Doric period. The natural harbour and the medicinal springs present helped Lissos flourish to a great extent, mainly during the Doric, the Hellenistic and the Roman period. The therapeutic waters of the spring, which still exists today in the location of Temenia, prompted the founding of the Asklepieion (= sanctuary of Asklepiós) of the town. You’ll have an hour to explore the ruins, discover your inner Indiana Jones and drink from the spring that gushes ‘healing water’ at the foundations of the Asclepieion.

Next, we’ll spend about half an hour making our way to the beach of Lissos. The beach is secluded, with sand, pebbles, rocks and deep waters; it is open to the strong south winds. Though undeveloped, all around it grow many trees that allow bathers to unwind in their shade. We’ll spend two hours diving into the blue waters, or relaxing under the sun enjoying some fresh fruit.

We will continue by embarking on a fishing boat to continue our exploration of the south coast. Our next stop will be the remote, quaint town of Paleochora where we’ll have the opportunity to participate in making a local traditional sweet, which pairs well with a glass of raki after a hearty meal! Last but not least, before leaving for Chania in the evening you will have the chance to explore the town. Palaiochora, nicknamed the Bride of Libya, is a delightful town. It is built up on a peninsular which fronts the Libyan Sea and divides the seashore in front of the town into two large and attractive beaches.

It’ll be an adventure of a lifetime that only requires a positive attitude and an open mind!
